Is Universal Orlando Resort a good vacation option for you?

A deep dive into everything Universal Orlando Resort has to offer - from theme parks to resorts to ticket options and City Walk.

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT

7/26/202512 min read

I’ll never forget the first time I walked into Diagon Alley. 😲 As a huge Harry Potter fan who grew up reading the books with my mom (and now reading them with my daughter—we’re on Book 7!), it was overwhelming in the best way. I felt like I was inside the story. And when I rode Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure? Pure joy.💖

Epic Universe, Universal Orlando's newest theme park, takes it to a whole new level. We can step into the Ministry of Magic (entering via Floo Powder—how cool is that?) and meet Toothless in the How to Train Your Dragon land. 🐲 (We just watched the first movie with the kids, and now I’m itching to binge the rest!) Then there’s Super Nintendo World. Donkey Kong was my favorite video game as a kid, and the new coaster there? It feels like you’re actually jumping the tracks. 🎢

Here’s the thing: You don’t have to just imagine these worlds anymore. You can actually be in them. 🤩🥳

That’s where I come in. Let me take the stress out of planning so you can focus on the fun. I’ll handle the details—park tickets, themed hotels, dining, and even things like airport transfers and stroller rentals. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, I’ll make sure your trip is as epic as the stories you love.

Okay, but is it right for me?

One of the best parts of being a Travel Advisor is when I can help my clients find the right options that fit what they want for their vacation. Do any of these scenarios sound like you? If so, see what advice I would give.

I just want to play and relax by an amazing pool.

I recommend a room at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort (or pool hop from another resort) so you can hang out by the 16,000-square-foot pool. It's the largest of any Universal Orlando Resort hotel, with two sand beaches, waterfalls, a slide that zips down the falls, a children’s play area with pop-up jets, cabana rentals, and more. There are plenty of opportunities for fun and relaxation here. A unique zero-entry feature cuts across this pool, allowing guests access to the pool bar and grille, Drhum Club Kantine, without having to walk around the length of the pool deck.

I want to ride the biggest thrills.

Definitely, definitely, definitely ride VelociCoaster. It's the most thrilling ride at the parks. I have a feeling some of the new rides at Epic Universe will give it a run for its money, though. My other favorites are Hagrid's Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure, and The Mummy.

I want to be transported into another world.

The most immersive lands are Diagon Alley in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida and the Dr. Seuss Land at Islands of Adventure. But EVERY land at Epic Universe is incredibly immersive.

My face after riding VelociCoaster - whew!
My face after riding VelociCoaster - whew!

I want my young kids to have fun.

Plan a visit to Dr. Seuss Land in Islands of Adventure and DreamWorks Land in Universal Studios Florida. You can meet beloved characters like the Cat in the Hat, the Grinch, and even Sam I Am in the whimsical Dr. Seuss land, and Poppy, Shrek and Donkey over at Dreamworks Land. With over-the-top theming and kid-size rides, these lands are perfect places to spend time with your littles. You can meet many other characters spread across the parks too!

I don't want to stand in line all day.

Express Pass Baby!! Unlike Disney's Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, you can enter the express line whenever you want. You could also stay at either Portofino Bay, Hard Rock or Royal Pacific since Express Unlimited Pass is included, or add one of the Express Pass options to your tickets.

My teenagers love water parks.

Volcano Bay will blow them away! It's supposed to be the BEST water park in all of Orlando! You will also get drenched at any of the water rides in Islands of Adventure.

I want a space my family can spread out.

I always recommend one of the Value Inn and Suites hotels for large families (or even for parents who want their own space from the kids). Cabana Bay has Family and 2-bedroom suites, and the Endless Summer Resorts have 2-bedroom suites with 3 queen beds. These rooms are great values for the money.

I want a luxurious stay with everything taken care of.

Stay club-level! Whether you choose the timeless elegance of Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, the tropical paradise of Loews Royal Pacific Resort, or the rock ‘n’ roll glam of Hard Rock Hotel, each offers its own unique escape—all with exclusive club-level perks that make your vacation feel effortlessly luxurious. Why Club Level? Start your morning with a gourmet breakfast spread—flaky pastries, fresh fruit, and made-to-order coffee—all in a serene lounge with stunning views. After a day of park adventures, unwind with evening hors d’oeuvres and desserts, from savory bites to sweet indulgences, paired with wine, beer, or soft drinks. Need a midday break? Pop in for refreshing afternoon snacks and beverages—perfect for recharging before your next thrill ride. You also gain access to a dedicated concierge service to help with reservations, park tips, and special requests.

I don't want to spend all my time in a theme park.

Universal Orlando Resort offers so much more than just theme parks! At Universal CityWalk, the energy is contagious as you explore a world of entertainment. The mouthwatering aromas from award-winning restaurants will tempt you at every turn. Challenge friends to a movie-themed escape room, catch the latest blockbuster in a high-tech cinema, or play a round of whimsical mini golf on creatively themed courses. Between shopping for unique souvenirs and discovering lively bars and lounges, there's something exciting around every corner.
